Drinks and Nibbles
We usher in the year 2016 with our customary get-together at the Town Hall. As always this will give us a chance to come up to date with each other's news over a glass of something and a few nibbles. Yes, there will be a small raffle and an opportunity to share the latest news about forthcoming events - notably our trip to Bernay over the first weekend of June which coincides with the end of the schools' half-term holiday. We hope to see you there; please put this in your diaries.

Quiz night 13th November
Our 2015 QUIZ NIGHT turned out to be a very successful event; all the hard work was worthwhile. Eighty five people attended and we were able to bank just over £1,000 in the Association's account towards entertaining our friends from Horb next September. As always, these occasions only work because of a lot of hard work on the part of the committee and members of the Association. Ann Fitchett with Rosemary Foster headed up the catering team, while Sheila Nicholas ran a very successful raffle. Our thanks go to a number of people who organised tables of eight participants. All in all, there were ten teams competing against each other and it was a team from Fernhurst ably led by Tom Fletcher that won the Quiz. Sincere thanks are due to all who came along, to those who turned up early to lend a hand setting up the hall, to all who supported the raffle and to those who remained behind afterwards to help clear up. If ever there was a demonstration of teamwork it was then; what an evening!

Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st May
2015 marks the 30th Anniversary of our being twinned with Bernay.
The members of the Bernay twinning association were welcomed after an overnight crossing from Caen, and taken home to their hosts for breakfast. After lunch a Petanque match was played at the Camelsdale recreation ground; contrary to expectation this was convincingly won by Haslemere!
On Friday the Bernay party travelled to Brighton via Arundel. Fish and Chips were enjoyed, some at the end of the Pier, and the passing rain storm was avoided by being in the restaurant. After this there was a tour with Audio guides of the Brighton Pavilion.
Saturday morning was spent in Haslemere shopping followed by a buffet lunch in the Museum, with food kindly provided by local shops. In the evening the Gala dinner was at the Lythe Hill hotel with speeches by the mayors of both towns and those making all the arrangements. The 'Shoe Box' cup was presented to the winners of the Petanque match.
This visit coincided with the last weekend of The Haslemere Festival. Accordingly, there was a lot going on with a very festive atmosphere in the town. In addition, the Classic Cars of Bernay and Haslemere had been very much in evidence the previous weekend (21st-24th May).

Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 17th March
This was held in Haslewey with so many attending that more chairs were needed. After the meeting all enjoyed the refreshments, with a typically french flavour!
New Year Drinks and Canapés on Sunday 25th January
This went very well and it was good to see so many of the members. Our thanks go to Ann for the organisation of this event and to all those who contributed a plate of delicious finger food (Barbara, Sheila, Ann and Rosemary). Click for pictures from the party
