Drinks and Nibbles
We ushered in the year 2016 with our customary get-together at the Town Hall. As always this was a chance to come up to date with each other's news over a glass of something and a few nibbles.
Tuesday 14th March
Annual General Meeting
Was held in St Bart's Church Hall.
Wednesday 31st May - Sunday 4th June
Haslemere went to Horb
Our trip to Horb included a day trip to Lake Constance. This included a meeting with Horb’s previous Mayor and Uberlingen’s new Mayor, Jan Zeitler, who visited Haslemere in 2016 on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of our twinning association.
For the first time, the organist of Haslemere’s Parish Church, Clive Osgood, accompanied us to Horb to play a concert of organ music on the recently renovated Baroque organ in the town.

Bernay came to Haslemere
As many of you will know we have just concluded a highly successful visit from Bernay to Haslemere. You may even have seen the French Tricolor flying in front of the Haslemere Town Hall for the duration of their visit. Here is a very quick summary ...
On THURSDAY 14th, our guests chose between going to the Town Hall to be greeted by our Deputy Mayor, David ROUND, or having a tour of St. Bartholomew's School (which is twinned with Ecole Primaire Jean Moulin in Bernay). Both were much appreciated.
On THURSDAY 14th all our guests were entertained to a fabulous BBQ at Sylvia McCALLUM and Christopher TIBB'S place. It was there that our teams beat the Bernay teams at Pétanque and therefore hold the Shoebox Trophy for the year 2017/18.
On FRIDAY 15th we all went off to Brooklands Museum (History of Transport) and the Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge. We should have had twice the time there to do it justice. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
On SATURDAY 16th we held our Gala Dinner at Haslewey which was a huge success. The management there had lived up to their promise of putting on a first-class show. The decor, ambience and food were all excellent. In the end we had to ask people to leave so that the staff could clear up!
On SUNDAY our friends left after lunch to return home via Newhaven and Dieppe.
